The Semiahmoo Ladies Club members are proud of the many ways we support our local community.
This page showcases ways that you can support our greater Blaine community. If you know of other volunteer opportunities or agencies in need of contributions, please let the web master know so it can be posted. |

Blaine Primary School needs Volunteers
Several years ago, a group of our members were active in helping out in the primary school. Seven years later, Daphne Johnson is still contributing her time to help the 1st graders in Terre Shapiro’s classroom. We are trying to get a group of ladies to contribute their time starting in the fall. Several of the classrooms could use your help. The time commitment would be: a few hours on a weekly basis (e.g.Monday mornings from 9-11 or Thursday afternoons from 12-3 or something like that.) The teachers understand that vacations and family obligations come up but if it were a fairly typical schedule, that would be great. The volunteer would probably be doing some type of reading game with a small group of children or even just spending time reading with one student at a time, for added practice. (This is what Mrs .Shapiro envisions but of course once we find out if people are interested, we could tailor their volunteering to preferences that they have. Also, we could find out more specifically what individual teachers would want...these are just a few ideas at this point.) Please contact Donna Charbonneau or Terre Shapiro tshapiro@blainesd.org for information or to volunteer.

Mother Hubbard's Cupboard
The brochure states that our cupboard
provides "basic essentials for destitute families."
We’re interested in:
Pots and Pans, dishes (we have some dishes but could still use more),
lamps, crock pot, toaster, coffee pot, dinette table and chairs, full
size bed, sofa, love seat, chairs, kitchen utensils, end tables, book
cases. No one has needed a TV so far, but I would take one. I'm sure
there are other things that we would be interested in that I haven't
thought of. Of course our Clothing Bank is always in need of sheets,
blankets and towels.
People can just leave a message. Thanks again for your help.
