Carol Feist has this to say about Lummi Island:
I'm sure most of the members who have lived here for awhile know about Lummi Island, but for many of the newer members this might be of interest. We had never been to the Island, and it is a really nice casual trip that can be taken in a day without rushing.
We took the ferry over last week and didn't have to wait for more than a few minutes. The toll for a roundtrip - $7.00 for the driver and $2.00 additional for each passenger. We checked out the 2 restaurants mentioned on the internet - Beach Store Cafe and the Willows. The Willows was not open on the day we came (Tuesday), but the Tap Root Pub which is part of the Willows and in the same location (on the west side of the island) is now open everyday for the summer. We had a wonderful lunch there. The Beach Store Cafe was a bit "rustic" for us.
On the internet there was info about a woman who grows peonies and we went to her home, walked through her gardens, and chose some peonies to purchase which we can pick up or have sent in the fall.
The island itself is very small, and it took us less than an hour to drive completely around it on very quiet. country road.
Editors Note: The Beach Store Cafe is one of our family's favorite places to go for a casual dinner.
If the weather is really nice, reserve the table on the front patio. From there you have a beautiful view of Mt. Baker. A drive around he island at sunset is really beautiful. Be sure to check the ferry schedule, however, so you miss the "break" or you might have a longer wait.

Helen Worley found this restaurant to be exceptional. Read here review below.
LeRoy and I have just come home from White Rock where we had an outstanding dinner at Pearl on the Rock at 14955 Marine Drive in White Rock (604)542-1064. It is five star and then some. If you're looking for a great dining experience, try this restaurant.
